The Green Guys are the Longmont sprinkler company with experience you can trust. We’re well-known for our expert landscaping services, but long before the Green Guys existed, we were installing irrigation systems in Longmont as Sprinkler Specialists, Inc. We designed, installed, maintained, and repaired thousands of sprinklers in residential yards, office parks, and even large estates.
Sprinkler System Blow-outs (Winterization) and Start-ups
You don’t need your sprinkler system once the temperature drops and the snow falls. Living in Colorado means that the winter season brings us beautiful white landscapes and ice formations. It also means that the snow won’t melt for days on end and where the frost level extends below the depth of the installed piping. That also means that you need to take measure to protect your irrigation system from freezing in order to avoid costly repairs in the Spring.
Beware when you contract the winterization of your sprinkler. Be sure it is done with a large compressor like a tow behind. Smaller compressors can leave water behind, resulting in expensive repairs.
Draining some water out of the system is not enough because the remaining water can freeze, expand, and crack the PVC piping from fitting to fitting. If your system has polyethylene pipe, although this type of pipe is more flexible and can expand under pressure, you are taking a great risk by leaving water inside as it could freeze and rupture the pipe walls. It is simply not prudent to leave water to freeze in the backflow assembly as it will damage the internal components and crack the brass body.
Remember that if you choose not to winterize your system, you also choose to increase its wear and tear. Winterizing (or blowing-out) your sprinkler system will increase the longevity of your sprinkler system.
Protect your investment and put your mind at peace by scheduling your sprinkler blow-out.
As they need a shut-down in the winter, sprinklers need to be turned on properly in the spring. A sprinkler activation will turn water back on to your irrigation heads and rotors, program your control clock, calibrate water angle and pressurize each zone for optimal coverage.
Take care of your sprinklers with Green Guys’ blow-out and start-up services in the Fall and Spring.
Sprinkler and Drip System Design & Installation
Did we mention the more than 3,500 sprinkler systems that we’ve installed? Did we mention our founder JJ Doke has personally performed and/or supervised the design, installation, and maintenance of nearly all of those irrigation systems? He’ll probably work on the installation of your sprinkler too.
Sprinkler and drip systems are vital to the life of your grass and plants, and their design can make or break your yard. When we design a sprinkler system we take every aspect of your yard into account: How much grass needs to be watered? How will water drain away? How much water does the soil need to saturate?
With these factors as our guide, we create a system for your yard. We place sprinkler heads for best water coverage, adjusting their angle and water pressure as needed. We’ll create an automatic schedule for your sprinklers to follow to maximize healthy soil saturation. When Green Guys are done, your sprinklers will be an efficient, well-oiled machine.
When you work with Green Guys, you are truly getting a custom sprinkler system, built specifically for your needs.
Sprinkler System Upgrades and Tune-Ups
Older sprinkler systems are often not as efficient as they can be using today’s technologies. Consider upgrading your sprinkler system with automatic timers and rain and weather sensors. These smart technologies will take care of your lawn, avoiding over- or under-watering, while conserving water. It saves you dollars, and rewards you with a beautiful lawn.
Green Guys have been in the sprinkler business for decades, and we’re keeping up with all of the exciting changes coming to the industry. Contact us to learn more about how a sprinkler upgrade will save you time and money.
Sprinkler Repair & Maintenance
There’s nothing quite like a broken sprinkler system to throw a wrench in your lawn care. In-ground irrigation systems are built to last, but will experience occasional damages and breaks. Left unattended, these damages can snowball into serious problems for your sprinkler system.
The most common sprinkler system problems we see are single sprinkler heads that don’t work. In most cases, these are symptoms of a sprinkler head being stepped on, mowed over, or otherwise broken. It’s a simple fix that a Green Guy can get done quickly.
More complicated problems – no water coming out at all when the system is turned on, leaking pipes, etc – are no problem for the Green Guys either.
Monitoring
During a typical sprinkler installation, we’ll set a schedule for your sprinklers to follow that will water your lawn the most efficiently – we avoid the hottest hours of the day when the rate of evaporation is the highest. Often this means that your sprinklers will turn in the early hours of the morning and turn off before Dawn – meaning that you may not know if your sprinkler system has broken.
Residential and Commercial Irrigation Services
These services – sprinkler repair, design, and installation – are available for both commercial and residential customers in Longmont. We understand how needs change as we move from designing a sprinkler system for a yard to designing one for a school or shopping center, and we’re more than ready to adapt as needed.
